Organized by the Yiannis Christodoulou Foundation, the award ceremony was based on the Pancyprian competition entitled “LOVE CYPRUS” addressed to students. The competition had 6 prizes of a total amount of € 170.000. The prize money will be used for the implementation of projects in each school. The main aim of the competition was to provide opportunities to students to develop their creative skills, inspiration and initiatives for the promotion of the culture, traditions, music, art and nature of Cyprus.
HRH Prince Albert II visited Cyprus to attend the charity event.
His Royal Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco kindly accepted the invitation by Mr. Yiannis Christodoulou to visit Cyprus for the charity event. During his visit, HRH Prince Albert II, had the opportunity to visit the “Lefkara” village where the Cypriot Lace “Lefkaritika” dating back to the 14th century is inscribed on the Representative list of Intangible World Heritage since 2009. Mrs. Myrna Pattichis leading the project of the revival of Cypriot Lace explained to HSH Prince Albert II and to all the guests of Mr. Christodoulou the importance of the continuous effort for reviving the 650 motifs in new colors, in a way to always respect the tradition.
